Wedding bands - Soo Kee Jewellery

Wedding cake & Bridal suite - The Regent Singapore

Thank you to The Regent Singapore, a Four Seasons Hotel, for providing the wedding cake for the reception. We hear their chef is going to whip up something unique for our couple - not the traditional 3- or 4-tier marzipan cake with only one tier that's real for them to cut through! We heard they might even do mini cupcakes in chocolate and coffee (Khuan & Ling's favourite flavours)!

Lisa from The Regent Singapore wrote in to say:
"We were very moved when we first heard their story on air. The sacrifices that they both offered are very touching. It is something we thought you'd read from a novel or watch from a movie. But here you have a couple, so deeply in love, so devoted to each other. There and then, we knew we wanted to contribute and be part of their special day."

Mr Koh has recommended full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with rich blackcurrant and tobacco flavours which will go great with the Peranakan red meat dishes that Catering Network is planning to have.

Jackie will be giving Ling a package that includes 5 manicures and 5 pedicures. She explained to us that it would be good for Ling to start now and do a session of both manicure and pedicure treatments every two weeks before the wedding to keep her nails in tip-top condition. She can even have one session with Khuan's (and soon-to-be her) daughter as a bonding session. And Jackie advises to save one session for after the wedding - just to relax after all that hustle and bustle of getting married!

Wedding invites - Card Blanche

Ferne told us that when Allison got married last year, they realised that most wedding card companies out there are printers and don't actually specialise in design. So with their 8 years of experience in advertising and design, they decided to start up Card Blanche to offer customised wedding stationery.

Gown/suit & Studio shoot - Jazreel Collections

They overcame adversity and made their family complete

For 4 years Khuan struggled to take care of the children and his wife who was suffering from cancer, while working double jobs to pay for the medical expenses. After his wife passed away, it took him some time to move on, but meeting Ling helped him to open his heart to a new love.

All this while Ling has been there to support Khuan through all the difficult times including being retrenched a few times and playing the mother figure to all his children. She even took to learning basic sign language to better communicate with one of Khuan's children who is hearing impaired.

Despite her mother and sister's initial apprehension that as a single woman she was choosing to marry a widower with five children, they have grown to become like one big family now, with Khuan helping to take care of Ling's aged mother and diabetic sister.

While Khuan would like to give his special lady the wedding she deserves, Ling similarly wishes that Khuan can experience a wonderful wedding after having been through so many trials in life.

After unsuccessful marriages, they finally found their soul mate when they met each other in a Christian halfway house where Catherine was working at while Kryst was serving his sentence. Together they sought to live better lives according to their faith, and believe that it was God that brought them together.

However while planning their wedding, Kryst returned to drugs and was caught and sent to prison. Determined to be man and wife, the couple got married in prison and their wedding night was spent apart. The separation lasted 5 years, but it has strengthened their love. Now that the couple is reunited, they are reaching out to those in need by giving up their secular jobs and starting a homeless and drug ministry.

The couple would like to have a simple wedding celebration with friends and family where they would be able to go home together. It would definitely serve as a new beginning for them as they spend the rest of their lives with each other.

Whether they have registered their marriage 20 years ago, or plan to marry in the next 2 months, the one thing these couples have in common is they share a binding love that has triumphed over life's obstacles. However, these circumstances have also prevented them from having the wedding they would have liked to have, being able to celebrate their love for each other with friends and family.

Couple 5 - Esmond & Irene

They didn't let trials prevent them from being together for 25 years

Both Esmond and Irene were sticken with polio disease since young but they have never let their disability prevent them from living a normal life. They were even sportsmen who have represented Singapore. Despite family objection, a difficulty to conceive and a tight financial situation, the couple got married 25 years ago and today are loving parents to three wonderful children. Having been put into foster care by her mother when she was young, Irene values the importance of taking care of her children all by herself and refuses any domestic help.

Even when Irene was diagnosed with colon cancer, she still faces each day with a positive and cheerful spirit. Esmond has been touched by her sincerity and love as she has been taking care of him since his fall 3 years ago which broke his leg. The couple are both wheelchair-bound now, but are still active in the community. This November, the couple will celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary and would love to be able to renew their marriage vows before their family and friends.

Couple 4 - Carolyn & Jayson

They have shown that love can grow a second time around

Jayson and Carolyn are both divorcees who started from loggerhead colleagues who feared getting into another relationship because of the stigma of being a divorcee and hesitations because they each have a daughter. However, they became much closer as they found they were able to understand and relate to each other. In the face of the discouragement and scorn they face from others, they courageously decided to take hold of their own happiness.

Jayson has been working long hours as a taxi driver to provide for them so that Carolyn can spend time with her daughter, whom she fought so hard for. As such, they don't even dare to plan to get married as they cannot afford it. They would like to share the message that a failed marriage is not the end of the world, and you can fight for your own happiness.

Couple 1 - Madeline & Toby

They had to keep a family together and see them through

As the eldest in the family, Madeline took on the responsibility of caring for her two younger sisters after their mother passed away. At that time, their father was not caring for the family either, and her sister had dropped out of school.

It was left up to Madeline to make sure they had a roof over their heads by renting a small place, and also financially supporting them, making sure they received a good education.

Having found her Mr. Right in Toby, the couple would like to tie the knot, however because they have exhausted all their savings for a place to call home, they have to put off having a wedding until they can afford it.

Her youngest sister thus nominated Madeline in hopes that she will get the wedding she deserves, having sacrificed so much to keep the three sisters together.
